Tideland Signal Warning Systems For Petrojarl's New Fpso

Tideland navigational warning systems have been chosen to mark the new Petrobras FPSO converted in the Remontowa yard in Gdansk, Poland for deployment in the Siri field in Brazil's Campos basin, which is thought to have reserves of 11 billion barrels.

Tideland Signal's contract was awarded by Petrojarl, which is responsible for supplying the vessel to Petrobras. Originally built in Bremen in 1981 and named the Che Guevarra, the new FPSO is expected to produce up to 15,000 barrels of oil a day from a single well.

Petrojarl's new FPSO will be marked by two Tideland ML-300 lanterns with a range of 10 NM, two ML-155 lanterns installed mid-ships and two AB-68 fog signals with a range of 2 NM. The whole system is controlled by a central panel and is equipped with a charger and battery in a protective box. A remote control/alarm panel is also installed in the operator's console on the bridge. All equipment is certified for operation in Zone 1 hazardous areas in conformity with IALA recommendation O-114 for the marking of offshore structures.

Tideland's ML-300 and ML-155 lanterns are lightweight, corrosion-resistant designs featuring a one-piece acrylic Fresnel lens and the larger unit is capable of achieving up to 7,288 candela. The lanterns supplied are equipped with Tideland's Duoflash Ex twin filament flasher, which incorporates a timer circuit card providing up to 256 user-selectable flash codes.
