Marlink, the global provider of satellite communications to the maritime industry has announced an extension to its WaveCall(TM) VSAT service which will now cover West Africa and the South West and South East Pacific. WaveCall(TM) is Marlink's own, always-on VSAT system, based on shared Ku-band and used by coastal commercial vessels, fishing boats and large leisure yachts which require a more regional service than the global C-band provided by Marlink's well established Sealink(TM) system.

The new regions come as part of Marlink's commitment to extending the WaveCall(TM) service around the world. CEO of Marlink, Tore Morten Olsen, commented: "The extended WaveCall(TM) regions will be serviced by our own teleports based in Southbury USA for the West Africa region and Santa Paula USA for the South West and South East Pacific. The networks will be using the iDirect Evolution platform to provide a highly reliable and affordable service for our customers. These new regions have a growing number of vessels which require satellite communication technology, it was therefore important for Marlink to meet the needs of our customers and provide the service they require."

WaveCall(TM) uses the latest Sea Tel® Ku-band VSAT antennas, which have been designed for sea going regional and multi-regional vessels that require always-on broadband and provides fast, cost-efficient communications at sea. Marlink acts as one global supplier of maritime VSAT services, with regional customer service centres and support engineers available to provide 24/7 support to customers throughout the world.
