Tideland Signal, the international specialist in aids to marine navigation, has launched RLED-170, a high-efficiency LED range lantern capable of a visual range of up to 20NM using less power than has ever been possible previously.

RLED-170 is available in two extremely economical power options: 20W and 40W, which give maximum ranges of 18NM and 20 MNM respectively. The 40W option is equipped with two redundant power supplies, each providing 50% back-up. Both power options feature variable power settings for field intensity control.

A choice of spreader lenses from 6° to 24° is available to allow a single RLED-170 to be used to mark a number of different channels. Conventional installations utilize two RLED-170s, one above the other so that mariners can establish a centre line by keeping the lights vertically aligned as they enter a channel, river or canal.

Tideland's RLED-170 is available in all IALA colours and flash characters and is manufactured in rugged, corrosion-resistant marine aluminium designed to withstand the most severe environments, from ice-bound latitudes to the tropics. It weighs only 8kg, is equipped with a standard marine lantern bolt pattern for ease of installation, while the unique swivel base and "gunsight" make alignment a simple matter. Options include a GPS synchronisation system, remote on/off switch via VHF radio or cellphone and full SignalView™ monitoring capability.

Approved to ISO 9001:2000, Tideland Signal Limited is a British-based member of the Tideland group of companies, which specialises in the design and manufacture of aids to marine navigation. The Tideland group is independently owned and has its headquarters in Houston, Texas.
