Autonomous Surface Vehicles (ASV) Ltd. has recently delivered a new work-class Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV), the CAT4000, to Braga Technical of Hong Kong. The vessel will be used for automated water quality sampling on lakes and rivers.

Ease of deployment was an important issue for the customer and ASV developed a novel design allowing the catamaran hulls to slide together and the mast to fold flat for shipment in a single 20' container.

The first craft delivered to Braga is all-electric and is equipped with a 300m winch, pan/tilt/zoom camera and ASV's latest unmanned system controller. Follow on units could be equipped with diesel-electric propulsion systems giving operational endurances of up to 48 hours.
ASV's Managing Director (Dan Hook) commented "Braga's repetitive task requiring high accuracy is an ideal application for an unmanned solution. The team has done an excellent job in designing and building the system in less than 4 months."
