Ships Electronic Services (SES), a market leader in maritime communication and navigation electronics has completed a contract with BP Shipping to supply 25 ships with Thrane and Thrane’s Fleetbroadband 250 systems. The upgrade sees BP using the economical Fleetbroadband as a replacement for the now obsolete Inmarsat B systems.

The upgrade installation took place all over the world during short-term docking for Engine Room upgrades, usually at very short notice. Due to frequent interaction and co-operation between SES and BP Shipping, the installations were completed on schedule. The final system recently left the SES Grangemouth facility ready for shipping to the BP vessel British Cormorant.

Bob Ball, Electrical Superintendent for BP Shipping commented: “We have worked with SES as our supplier for many systems, including the Fleetbroadband upgrades for a number of years. We believe this to be an economical solution with technical back-up and after sales service.”

Colin Anderson, a Director of SES said: “We are delighted that BP Shipping has once again chosen SES as their leading supplier of communication equipment. Both in the past and recently with the upgrade to the Thrane and Thrane’s Fleetbroadband systems, we have provided continual technical support for the entire BP fleet. This recent contract proves that SES’s reputation for excellent customer service and cost effective solutions continues to stand.”
SES is a market leader with 35 years’ experience in supplying, installing and maintaining maritime communication and navigation electronics, operating from six strategic sites in the UK. For more information, please visit www.ses-marine.com.
