Two major players in the marine industry, the Harris Pye Group and Future Pipe Industries B.V. (FPI), of The Netherlands, have signed a collaboration to work together supplying Glass Fiber Reinforced Epoxy Pipe Systems (GRE) to the marine, cruise, industrial and selected areas in the oil and gas sectors. Their collaboration has already seen orders secured.
Both companies are specialized in providing services for installing and upgrading GRE pipe work, and both are highly experienced in conversion work, replacing steel with GRE.
"We are delighted to have come to this agreement with FPI," says Mark Prendergast, Harris Pye's Group Managing Director. "It is an agreement between equals and it sees us pooling our strengths to the advantage of clients in the cruise, merchant marine, and offshore and oil and gas industry. We are looking forward to working even more closely now with FPI. We have each identified our particular strengths, and will be working to those. This makes it a true win:win situation."
"I wholeheartedly agree with Mark Prendergast's words, this is indeed a win:win situation for both companies," says Marc Groenewoud, Unit Manager Shipbuilding of FPI. "FPI associated with Harris Pye on projects in the marine industry world-wide will be a strong and reliable solution for our customers covering all aspects of our GRE services and products."
A part of Harris Pye Group's world-wide role will be to provide their installation project team to identify and provide, where necessary, all associated FPI materials, tooling, manpower, supervision and project management and to control this process in conjunction with FPI's project team. Harris Pye will also be assisting FPI with the installation of GRE systems and performing surveys on behalf of FPI.
Through their marine agent net work FPI will actively promote and recommend Harris Pye to ship owners/managers and ship yards. The agreement also includes extensive training of Harris Pye's supervisors at FPI's facility in The Netherlands.
In the short period after signing the collaboration orders have already been secured: Harris Pye carried out surveys and installed a dedicated grey water overboard system onboard mv Ocean Village 2 owned by Carnival UK. New projects will be secured within a few months.
Opportunities for expansion for both companies worldwide will follow the appointment of Harris Pye Marine as service & commercial agents for FPI in USA, South Africa, Dubai, Singapore, Japan, Australia and Korea.
