StatoilHydro and Kongsberg Maritime Join Forces For Automation And Safety Systems Operation

StatoilHydro and Kongsberg Maritime have made a general agreement for the operation of automation and safety systems delivered by Kongsberg Maritime onboard StatoilHydro's installations in the North Sea. The agreement has a duration of 2 years and covers Statfjord A, B and C and the platforms at Haltenbanken.
The agreement secures that StatoilHydro has access to the necessary resources and technology for optimal operations of the extensive Kongsberg Maritime process control and automation equipment systems installed on the platforms in addition to covering any marine equipment installed, such as ballasting systems.
One important aspect of the agreement is to run as much of the work as possible onshore in order to reduce the number of trips offshore, therefore reducing costs and logistical issues for StatoilHydro's service operations. This is made possible with the further development of integrated operations (IO), which ensures the close collaboration of suppliers to improve the safety and operational efficiency of offshore platforms.
"The agreement is a natural extension of the working relationship we already enjoy with StatoilHydro," says Per HÆgstad of Kongsberg Maritime's Oil and gas division. "We have collaborated on several projects in the field of integrated operations and have recently opened a new IO lab designed to improve communication with our customers' offshore installations. StatoilHydro's Kristin was the first platform we connected to."
